Planimetric / topographic data based on 2008 aerial photography. Note that selected areas involved the production of 1' contours (Patapsaco Wastewater Treatment Plan) and the outfall alignment.
Project 831 (2/2001 - 6/2003) involved update and new planimetric and topographic mapping.</othercit>

<abstract>This dataset represents photogrammetrically captured pavement edges. Coverage represents polygons and lines. Feature capture rules: Paved road - Paved roads encompass the service roads, streets, highways, expressways, and any other roadway intended for use by motor vehicles. In most cases, the compiled feature shall be the face of a curb. Curbs will be defined as the face of the curb and will carry through drop curbs. If no curb is present then the actual edge of the pavement shall be compiled. Paved roads shall be continuous across driveways. Paved roads shall continue over bridges. Paved roads shall be digitized as closed polygons. Unpaved road - Service roads and streets that are unpaved will be digitized as polygons. The edge of an unpaved road will be defined as lines paralleling the outer edges of tire tracks visible in the dirt or gravel. Unpaved roads shall be digitized as closed polygons. Paved driveway - All paved driveways. Make sure the endpoint for each side of the driveway is snapped to the edge of the building and the roadway from which it extends. Driveways shall be digitized as closed polygons. Paved alley - Delineate alley by capturing visible edge of the paved carriageway. Alleys are narrow, un-named roads running between the buildings on a city block. They do not form blocks, but allow vehicular access to the block's interior. They are generally uncurbed. Alleys shall be digitized as closed polygons. Paved and unpaved median - Median area represented by curbing or pavement marking. The polygon represents the interior polygon. Medians shall be digitized as closed polygons.
Paved parking - Parking lots for 5 or more cars will be delineated by the outline of the parking lot. Interior curb areas (medians) shall be represented as NON-parking polygons. Parking shall be digitized as closed polygons.
Road intersection polygon - Polygon will be generated for road/road intersection(s) only.
Curb Cut (or Hidden) - Beginning and ending point for drop curbs. Will be represented as line. Generally will correspond to driveways or parking lots as represented in the original data. Used for the edge of road, ally, driveway, or parking polygon.
Street Edge with Curb (or Hidden) - Edge of pavement with Curb used as the edge of a road or alley polygon.
Street Edge with no curb (or Hidden) - Edge of pavement without a curb. Used as the edge of a road or alley polygon.
Parking Edge (or Hidden) - Edge of parking. Used as the edge of parking polygons.
Driveway Entrance (or Hidden) - Entrance to driveway. Used as the edge of driveway polygons.
Street edges within cemetery's - Street edges within cemeteries will be captured as driveway not as paved road.</abstract>

<procdesc>Planimetric and topographic features were compiled from aerial photography using softcopy photogrammetric workstations.
Features were updated from prior photogrammetric base map and new features were compiled. All features were reviewed and updated on a per stereomodel basis. Change detection was completed by reviewing older planimetric data in comparison with the updated orthoimagery. This was used to focus the updates. All data was delivered in ESRI geodatabase format using an updated and enhanced data base design. Prior to performing the updates data was migrated from the existing geodatabase structure into the new format. Exception reports were produced and data was modified to adhere to the new design. The migrated data was provided to Sanborn for updating. It was translated into a format compatiable with ZI imaging workstations. Updates were performed and data was then translated to ESRI geodatabase format. Custom validation reports were developed and run using ESRI's PLTS for quality control. Data was QC?d using the orthoimagery as a backdrop. Based on the QC process edits were performed. After final acceptance all data was appended into a seamless geodatabase. The following features were included in the update process.
