Service Description: The I-83 sign inventory is a geodatabase layer developed by the GIS team housed under BCDOT for the DOT maintenance team to support their planning, work scheduling and budgeting. The initial dataset was created using 100 ft buffer to capture all the sign points within the right of way of I-83. Later desktop review using high resolution street view images from 2024 was used to clean the dataset. The clean dataset included legends as the description of the signs and whether they need replacement or not. Standard review protocols were followed to review the dataset before delivering it for broader use. Further enhancement of the dataset includes maintenance schedule along with necessary information. The dataset is maintained by GIS unit of BCDOT. To cite the data: Baltimore City Department of Transportation. (2026). I-83 Sign Inventory (version 1) [geodatabase]. BCDOT.
